When you are in a strange country, all the signs are full of words you don’t know and it could feel a bit intimidating. Truth be told, China has made much of progress in placing signs in English, and in most places you can get around quite easily even without being able to read Chinese. However, spotting Chinese characters of which you know the meaning can give a stranger in a strange land a sense of joy and comfort.
